Adding Your First Custom Domain
Custom domains allow you to use your own branded domain for tracking links instead of the default ClickerVolt domain. This increases trust, improves click-through rates, and reinforces your brand identity.
Why Use Custom Domains?
Benefits of custom domains:
Branded links look more professional (links.yourbrand.com vs clickervolt.app)
Higher trust = better click-through rates on ads and emails
First-party tracking improves conversion tracking accuracy
Better email deliverability (some email providers flag generic tracking domains)
Complete control over domain reputation
Requirements
Before adding a custom domain, you need:
A domain name you own (e.g., yourdomain.com)
Access to your domain's DNS settings
Active ClickerVolt account with credits
Domain must be available (not already used by another ClickerVolt account)
Setup Process
Step 1: Initiate Domain Addition
Navigate to the Custom Domains section
Click "Add Custom Domain"
Enter your domain name (e.g., track.yourdomain.com or links.yourdomain.com)
Review the pricing (one-time setup fee + monthly subscription)
Step 2: Configure DNS Records
ClickerVolt will display the DNS records you need to add. You must add two types of records:
TXT record for domain verification
A record or CNAME record pointing to ClickerVolt servers
Go to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.) and add these records. DNS propagation can take 5 minutes to 48 hours.
Step 3: Verify Domain
After adding DNS records, click "Verify Domain" in ClickerVolt. The system checks if DNS records are correctly configured and propagated. If verification fails, wait longer for DNS propagation and try again.
Step 4: Activate Domain
Once verified, your custom domain is activated. SSL certificates are automatically generated and installed (usually within 10 minutes). Your domain is now ready to use with tracking links.
Billing for Custom Domains
Custom domains cost $1.00 per domain per month. All domains are billed on a single Stripe subscription with quantity adjustments. Key billing details:
Flat rate: $1.00 per domain per month
No setup fees - SSL certificates included free
One subscription - adding domains 2+ adjusts the quantity on your existing subscription
First domain creates the subscription, additional domains increase quantity
Payment processed automatically from your default payment method

If payment fails, domains enter a 15-day grace period with 4 payment retry attempts (Day 0, 3, 8, 15). You'll receive email notifications about payment failures. Update your payment method during the grace period to avoid service interruption.
Advanced Topics
Root Domain vs Subdomain
You can use either a subdomain (track.yourdomain.com) or a root domain (yourdomain.com). Both are equally easy to configure - both use CNAME records. However, subdomains are strongly recommended because: if you use your root domain for tracking, you cannot use that domain for anything else at the same time (website, email, etc.). Using a subdomain keeps your main domain available for other purposes.
SSL Certificate Management
SSL certificates are automatically generated via Let's Encrypt when you add the required TXT record (_acme-challenge). After DNS verification completes (typically 60-90 seconds), SSL is issued automatically. ClickerVolt automatically renews certificates before expiration - you don't need to take any action. Certificates are managed automatically for the life of your domain at no additional cost.
Domain Reputation
Your custom domain's reputation affects email deliverability, ad platform approval, and click-through rates. To maintain good reputation: only use legitimate traffic sources, avoid spam or deceptive practices, monitor domain reputation using tools like Google Safe Browsing or Spamhaus, and consider using different domains for different traffic types to isolate reputation.
Multiple Custom Domains
You can add unlimited custom domains to your account. The first domain creates a $1/month Stripe subscription. Each additional domain increases the quantity on that same subscription (domains 2, 3, 4 = $2, $3, $4 per month total). Use different domains for different brands, traffic sources, or offer types to segment reputation and tracking. This is especially useful for agencies managing multiple clients or marketers running various brands.
Domain Activation Time
After adding DNS records and clicking "Refresh", verification and SSL issuance typically complete within 60-90 seconds if you use Cloudflare. Without Cloudflare, DNS propagation can take up to 72 hours. Once verification completes, your domain is immediately active for creating tracking links.
Cloudflare Users
If your custom domain DNS is managed by Cloudflare, you MUST enable Cloudflare's proxy feature (orange cloud icon) for the CNAME record. This is required for ClickerVolt custom domains to function properly. Without the proxy enabled, verification will fail.
