Creating and Editing Links
This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about creating and editing tracking links in ClickerVolt.
Creating a New Link
To create a new tracking link:
Click the "New Link" button in the dashboard
Fill in the required fields in the link form
Add at least one target URL
Click "Save Link" to create the link
Link Form Fields
The link creation form includes the following fields:
Link Name (Required)
A descriptive name for your link. This is only visible to you in the dashboard and helps you identify the link at a glance. Use clear, meaningful names like "Facebook Ad - Product Launch" or "Email Campaign - Newsletter #5".
URL Slug (Required — or Catch-All)
The unique identifier that appears in your tracking URL. Must be lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only. Example: "summer-sale" creates https://yourdomain.com/summer-sale
Alternatively, enable the "Catch-All" checkbox next to the Slug label to create a slugless link that captures all root-domain traffic (e.g., yourdomain.com with no slug). Only one catch-all link is allowed per account.
Custom Domain (Optional)
Select a custom domain if you have one configured. Otherwise, the default ClickerVolt domain will be used.
Rotation Algorithm
Choose how traffic is distributed when you have multiple targets. Default is "Weighted Random". See rotation algorithm guides for details on each option.
Fallback URL (Optional)
A backup URL used when no targets are available or match the visitor criteria. Useful for handling edge cases.
Geo Filter (Optional)
Restrict this link to specific countries. Leave empty to accept traffic from all countries.
Adding Targets
Every link needs at least one target. To add a target:
Scroll to the "Targets" section
Click "Add Target"
Enter the destination URL
Configure target settings (weight, geo filter, max clicks)
Click "Save" on the target form
You can add multiple targets to split test different offers or landing pages.
Editing Existing Links
To edit a link:
Find the link in your dashboard
Click the edit icon or click the link name
Modify any fields as needed
Click "Save Link" to apply changes
Changes take effect immediately. Active links will start using the new configuration right away.
Link Status
You can change a link status at any time:
Active: Link is live and accepting traffic
Paused: Temporarily disabled
Archived: Hidden from dashboard but data retained

Validation Rules
ClickerVolt enforces these validation rules:
Slug must be unique across your account (unless using catch-all)
Slug can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens
Link name is required and must be 1-255 characters
At least one active target is required
Target URLs must be valid HTTP/HTTPS URLs
Unsaved Changes Warning
If you try to leave the form with unsaved changes, ClickerVolt will warn you to prevent accidental data loss.
Cloning Links
To quickly create similar links, you can clone an existing link. This copies all settings except the slug, which must be unique.
Link Grouping
Groups let you organize your tracking links by campaign, client, traffic source, or any label that makes sense for your workflow. Groups are lightweight labels — no separate setup required.
Assigning a Group
In the General settings tab of the link form, click the Group dropdown to see your options:
Select an existing group from the list
Click "+ Create new group" and type a name to create one on the fly
Choose "None (ungrouped)" to remove the link from its current group
Click the × button next to the group name to quickly clear it
Tip: Group names are shared across all your links. Typing a name that already exists reuses it automatically.
Filtering by Group
When you have at least one grouped link, a filter bar appears above your links table with colored pills for each group.
All — shows every link regardless of group (default)
Group pills — click any pill to show only that group's links
Ungrouped — shows links without a group
Small colored badges also appear next to link names when viewing "All". Click a badge to jump straight to that group's filter.
Bulk Group Operations
To move several links at once, click the checkbox icon in the table header to enter bulk selection mode. Select the links you want, then use the floating action bar to:
Move to Group — pick an existing group or type a new name
Remove from Group — ungroup all selected links
Note: Bulk operations only change the group label. They never delete links or affect routing.
Renaming and Removing Groups
Hover over a group pill in the filter bar and click the ⋯ menu to rename it or remove it entirely. Removing a group simply ungroups its links — no links are deleted.
